Construction of new Police Commissioner's Office awarded to THV Democo-Willemen GC

The local Ostend Police has some 325 employees and provides services to 70,000 local permanent residents plus tourists and residents of second homes. A new and functional Commissioner's Office was sorely needed.

To achieve this, the AGGB worked together with Farys/TMVW, using the ‘Design, Build and Finance’ principle as the basis for a negotiation procedure with European publication. This means that the appointed contractor combination THV Democo – Willemen General Contractor are now responsible for the design, construction and financing of the project.

They will lease out the Commissioner's Office – upon its completion – for a period of 30 years to the AGGB. After this 30-year period, the building and its grounds will become the property of the AGGB. The compensation that the AGGB must pay to THV Democo-Willemen General Contractor amounts to 791,463.62 euros per year. The AGGB will, in turn, lease the building to the Ostend Local Police.
