On Friday, January 17th, the first stone was laid for the construction of the new residential care center Ezeldijk in Diest. In the presence of Flemish Minister for Welfare, Health and Family, Jo Vandeurzen and Mayor of Diest, Jan Laurys, VZW Foyer de Lork gave the start for the construction of a residential care center with 105 residential units.
Foyer de Lork collaborates with Probis and Ezeldijk nv, who are realizing the construction of 34 assisted living residences on the Ezeldijk site. They could count on a lot of interest at the start of the sale, six months ago.
This project will transform the former premises of Euro Shoe into a residential area : a mix of housing types (apartments, lofts, homes, a residential care center, assisted housing) and shops throughout the area, combined with a green park area and the presence of the Demer.
Meanwhile Democo has already started the construction work. Completion is scheduled for the end of 2015. The 34 flats of this first phase are connected with the residential care center of care provider Foyer de Lork, who will be responsible for providing services to the residents. The investment works are subsidized by the Flemish Community (VIPA).
After the great interest in the sale of the first phase, it was rapidly decided to develop a second phase. In the spring of 2014 Probis and Ezeldijk nv will realize another 12 assisted homes. The first and only 50 assisted living residences in Diest will appear in the very near future on the Ezeldijk site !
