Today the official inauguration of the best known landmark of Hasselt - the new court house - will take place. The joint venture 'THV Hasaletum' - Democo, Cordeel and Interbuild - realized the structural work and coordination of techniques and finishing.
Stijn Leenders, project manager of Democo, collaborated on the construction of the new court house and in particular of the facades. "Personally I find the building retro as well as futuristic and it is a contemporary icon for Hasselt. Especially now the landscaping around the building is finished, it completes the look. With its height of 75 meters above street level, it is a prominent occurrence in Hasselt's skyline."
"Contributing to building facades and roofs of one of the highest and most complex building of Hasselt, was a big challenge for me and raises many memories. When you consider that the facades were realized in one year - despite of the severe winter then - this is an incredible achievement for all people who have contributed to this and also an important reference for Democo as a general contractor," concludes Stijn.
Sister company Deholi from Houthalen also worked on this project and realized the wooden joinery for the huge glass facades, as well as the Kerto coverings against the laminated trusses.
