At the end of this week, the former Servatius School in Diepenbeek was completely demolished. The older cultural centre had already been under the wrecking ball. It is making way for a new cultural centre and a residential complex.
Starting next week, work will start on the construction of 35 apartments, 7 social houses and 600 m² of commercial space. The new cultural centre is next, with work scheduled to start in March 2012.
The new cultural centre is being given an immense glass façade that will look out onto a new interior courtyard with stage. There will also be a new theatre café, foyer and meeting rooms. The new buildings will be built with a high degree of integrated sustainability.
