Democo won a great new project at the end of 2011. JBC is investing in a new office complex in Houthalen. The popular chain of clothing stores now has 120 branches in Belgium. The current offices are bursting at their seams and in order to centralise their administration, creative team and logistics in one building, a new headquarters is being built on a plot in the Centrum-Zuid 2080 industrial zone.
The building is designed by Rob Gijsenberg of the Genk architecture firm Buro B and is a slender, L-shaped volume of limited depth allowing all the offices to benefit from maximum natural light. The new building is designed with a large, curved facade looking onto JBC's own warehouses and the 'fashion wall'.
The 12,000 m² complex will be built by Democo. Work starts in January 2012 and will be completed by June 2013.
