As from 25 October 2011, Democo is entitled, together with 11 other Limburg-based companies, to call itself a winner of the first 'Limburg Environmental & Sustainable Enterprise Charter'. Delegate Frank Smeets handed the Chater label over to us.
A small sampling of a number of campaigns achieved :
In the framework of the environmental charter, Democo carried out a study of the capacity utilisation of our fleet and by gradually replacing old, big vehicles by new, modified vehicles, will be saving around 700 litres of diesel per vehicle each year.
Another environmentally friendly measure is the double-sided printing of order forms and budget control documents as standards. This simple measure saves us - and the environment - 18,600 pages each year.
Alongside waste prevention, Democo also seeks to sort the waste produced to the greatest extent possible. Preprinted tarpaulins have been purchased which will be used on site to optimise the sorting of waste. These tarpaulins are printed with a drawing, intended to clarify what type of waste the particular container is used for, so that the content of each container is clear to everyone.
In the future, Democo will take this path of environmentally friendly enterprise further. At the moment, calculations are being made to determine the carbon dioxide footprint of Democo, with the ultimate aim of achieving the lowest possible CO2 emissions.
